Ontario's Second Career is a cost-sharing program administered by Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), which provides funding based on need up to $28,000 for tuition, books and manuals, transportation, and basic cost of living to those willing to take a new career path. To start this process, one can contact the staff from the Employment Ontario Resource Centres in Elgin Middlesex and Oxford (EMO) counties. The assessment of your individual situation is based on: the length of unemployment, the effort to actively search for employment, education, work experience, and labour market forecasts.
One consideration that may be applicable to your situation is that a personal financial contribution might be required to complete the education/training received for a second career path. The share of personal contribution will be determined by the ministry based on individual's application assessment.
